If you’re here, you probably searched the internet for something along the lines of, “how many miles to rotate tires,” or, “when to rotate tires.” There’s no shame in asking that question, in fact we think it makes you a good automobile owner! Proper vehicle maintenance includes knowing how many miles to go in between tire rotation servicing. Find out how often to rotate your tires when you read the guide below, courtesy of the Hendrick Cadillac Cary service department. Have questions? How often should you rotate your tires? Typically, tire rotation has an interval of 5,000 to 8,000 miles. While that’s a good rough estimate, your vehicle’s manufacturer may have a specific interval to adhere to, so you may want to consult your owners manual.
FWD? RWD? These designations mean one simple thing: does the power from the engine get sent to the tires in the front or the rear? Typically, the two tires putting power to the pavement will wear out faster, so rotating these tires to the off-power axle will help keep your vehicle in good traction, since the less-used treads are now on the powered axle.
If you drive an AWD (all-wheel drive) vehicle (such as the Cadillac XT5) for your Apex commute, then your vehicle will undoubtedly have a different tire rotation requirement than front or rear-wheel-drive vehicles. Since the power from the engine is being distributed to every wheel, the rotation will need to be done in a particular way and in closer intervals. Most AWD-equipped vehicles should have their tires rotated every 3,000 to 5,000 miles.
